National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Steel, Government of India, with its headquarters in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is the largest producer of iron ore in India, operating mines in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. NMDC is active in the mining and steel manufacturing industries, supplying iron ore and steel products. The company owns NMDC Steel Ltd., which runs a greenfield integrated steel plant in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh, with a production capacity of 3 million tonnes per annum. This plant uses BF/BOF technology and integrates energy-efficient systems, utilizing high-grade iron ore from nearby Bailadila mines. NMDC's principal operations include iron ore mining in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka and steel production through its subsidiary, NMDC Steel Ltd.
