GAIL (India) Limited is an integrated natural gas company incorporated in 1984 as a Government of India undertaking. The company operates across the entire gas value chain, including natural gas transmission, marketing, LPG production and transmission, petrochemicals, and city gas distribution, while expanding into renewable energy and green hydrogen. GAIL owns and operates extensive infrastructure, including approximately 11,500 to 16,243 kilometers of natural gas pipelines and over 2,300 kilometers of LPG pipelines, along with six LPG gas-processing units and a petrochemicals facility. Its business segments encompass natural gas transmission, LPG production and transmission, petrochemicals processing, city gas distribution, and renewable energy. GAIL holds joint venture interests in Petronet LNG Ltd and Ratnagiri Gas and Power Pvt Ltd, participates in city gas distribution ventures across multiple cities, and maintains wholly owned subsidiaries in Singapore and the United States. The company has a significant presence in India, Singapore, and the United States and holds a dominant position in the domestic gas market.
