SML ISUZU LIMITED, originally incorporated as Swaraj Vehicles Ltd in 1983, was promoted by Punjab Tractors Ltd with technical collaboration from Japan's Mazda Motor Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation. The company specializes in manufacturing light and medium commercial vehicles in India. Initially collaborating with Mazda Motor Corporation until 2004, SML ISUZU later entered into a technical assistance agreement with Isuzu Motors. In 2011, the company was renamed SML ISUZU. As of 2011, Sumitomo Corporation held a 44% stake while Isuzu Motors owned 15%. Effective August 1, 2025, SML ISUZU became a listed subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. Its operations primarily span India, with technical collaborations originating from Japan.
