Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI) was established in 1961 through the amalgamation of Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation. Headquartered in Mumbai, SCI operates primarily in India across the shipping, maritime infrastructure, and energy transportation industries. The company is engaged in transporting goods and passengers and serves as the nation's primary carrier for energy and bulk resources. SCI maintains a diversified fleet of 58 owned vessels totaling approximately 5.26 million deadweight tonnage (DWT) as of mid-2024. Its business segments include crude and product tankers, dry bulk carriers, liner services, and offshore support. SCI plays a significant role in India's maritime infrastructure and energy security.
