In July 2006, STL expanded into power transmission cables by acquiring the transmission line business of Sterlite Industries Ltd. Headquartered in India, it serves markets in over 100 countries. It is the largest optical fiber and optical fiber cables manufacturer in India, operating in key business segments of optical fiber manufacturing, optical fiber cables manufacturing, and power transmission cables.
